UAG History

Uganda Assemblies of God was started by American Assemblies of God in 1979 from the Eastern border of Uganda a place called Suam in Bukwo District (by then was Kapchorwa District).

The first missionary who was operating from Kenya came and started a fellowship which gave birth to Senendet Assemblies of God. The missionary was Ron Somers. The church grew and many fellowships were started.
Another missionary team entered Uganda through Malaba and started a church near Uganda Cement Industry (UCI) and the church was named UCI Assemblies of God which became the mother church of all the churches in Tororo and Busia.
The missionaries who worked in Uganda included:- Johnson, Kings Righters, Ron Somers, Jimmy Beggs and Glenn Ford.
Peter Bendera a Kenyan national became the first General Superintendent of Uganda Assemblies of God and later his son Moses Bendera.
From then, UAG has grown to over 1200 churches through out Uganda.
We thank God for His faithfulness.
